01/03/13 League Derby County (a) 1-0 win

The start of a massive three games for Palace was a Friday night clash with Derby. Most expected this to be a live game for Sky but it did not turn out to be the case. But more importantly we were looking for our first league away win since Peterborough in November.

And suprisingly we started the game well considering in recent away games the first half has been somewhat of a struggle. The first chance fell to Wilf Zaha when he got on to the end of a Glenn Murray flick but it ended up going straight at the Derby keeper. It didn't take long to have a nother chance and this was put Palace in to the lead. It was a freak tackle or block but I would rather call it 'vision' from Jedi as the ball ended up behind the Derby back line for Bolasie to run on to fire home emphatically after rounding the keeper. It could well have been better, captain Jedi hitting the crossbar from 25 yards out.

The second half mostly made up of Derby searching for an equaliser which in all honesty, as the home team, it they that had to take the game to Palace. Heroics from the back line and Speroni saw us through in to injury time but that is not without a few breaks, notable Williams hitting the crossbar in an effort to seal the win for the visitors. But as the clock ticked down , it was a dubious penalty that the referee gave to the home side as Delaney was judged to have tripped a Derby player in the area. It was striker Sammon that stepped up to take the kick but the script had been written and Jules duly obliged. A wonderful save and all three points were heading back to SE25.

Boss Ian Holloway said: "Derby have got a young side who are so enthusiastic and they probably deserved better than they got tonight. We all looked a bit nervous at the end, myself included, because we wanted it so bad. I'm going to enjoy this because we're in with a shout of automatic promotion and that's fantastic for everybody at the club."

View from The Eagles Beak: "The search for some form away from home ends with a great result at just the right time. Erases the loss at Hillsborough from the minds and takes us in to two all important home games. Fantastic passion from the players."
