We have previous with this team. Who can forget the match ups with them last season, both in the league and in the cup. We owed them a result or two. And this was it, with interest.
Dougie chose to make four changes to the side that drew with Forest in mid-week in an attempt to extend the unbeaten run to four games. One of the changes was bringing in former Cardiff defender Darcy Blake. Palace had the better of the early stages and KG's effort from distance was brought a one-handed
save from David Marshall. Despite the chances, Cardiff took the lead through Gunnarsson and quickly made it two through Cowie. Bellamy had a chance to make it three but he put it over which only seemed to spur Palace on and emerged for the second half with a purpose. The early pressure led to a penalty which Murray cooly put away and the impotus was there to be seen as Cardiff keeper Marshall
was then forced to tip a Murray effort past the post before Darcy Blake headed over
from the resulting corner. Murray would not be denied however as a shot
from Moritz deflected at the back post and he squeezed a shot into the net from a tight angle. Palace were then awarded their second
penalty on 72 minutes following Heidar Helguson
reckless challenge on Jonathan Parr. Murray again stepped up and scored from the spot to complete his hat-trick and an amazing comeback.
View from TheEaglesBeak; A tale of two halves but we managed to score more than them. This was payback and how sweet it was. The Palace bandwagon continues to roll on.
